Introduction to Sara
Originally from Cornwall, Sara has a Diploma in photography at Plymouth College of Art, and is now in her 3rd year studying Photography at University of West England, Bristol.
Her works are predominantly commercial, with a key focus on colour and light, but she enjoys experimenting with possibilities and concepts. An example would be a collection of portraits for the Singer/Song writer Eløise that uses double exposures to emphasise the sonic narrative. (See below:)

Live gig photography is one of her biggest passions as a photographer, capturing single unique moments that both musicians and audience can enjoy post-event for either content use or nostalgia/memories. Some bands she has already worked with are: Pup, The Sherlocks, Sports Team, Shooga Bloom and Boston Manor.

This Year she was also shortlisted for Rankin's 2020, a competition held by the photographer Rankin, where she featured on Sky Arts and his how 'The Rankin's 2020 series'. Lydia (lead vocalist of Shooga Bloom) had the honour of being the model for the submitted image, and is happy to be involved in Sara's journey as a photographer.
Inspirations
She is inspired by the artists Hollie Fernando and Samuel Burgess-Johnson. Whilst concept inspiration comes from music, fashion and the world around her creating pieces that discuss global issues, such as waste, pollution and the promotion of sustainability and ethical clothing. A recent project looked at sustainably sourced clothes taken in a high fashion shoot, to emphasise how it's the future of fashion.

She then got in contact with different Cornish and Bristolian brands, talking to them about sustainable fashion , what it means, and how it could be integrated within the brand/company.
This is something she would like to explore and capture more once it is again possible.
She herself would like to become a more sustainable person and produce less waste. Depop is Sara's favourite place! She has some fantastic sustainable buys on her account, so if that's your thing then go and take a look at Sara's Depop.
Current Projects
She is working with a team of artists to create a publication showcasing their wonderful photography work, and are hoping to be able to display their photography physically in their show Solid Air, which will be held when current COVID-19 restrictions are lifted in Bristol and London. To achieve these goals they have set up a Just Giving Page and a Depop Shop selling lots of funky items to raise the funds they need to carry out these projects and events. So please Donate if you can, as we can't wait to see the work they produce!

Another project Sara's throwing herself into is creating album/single covers, through listening to artist's music and recreating it in a visual medium . She is very keen to work with some wonderful musicians, so get in touch with her if you are at all interested or looking for a fantastic photographer. We have worked with her in the past (the main image on our home page was created by her) and she is amazing, so fun and easy to work with! We are currently planning our first EP with her concerning the single art and the album art, and we can't wait to see what she creates!
Creativity in Lockdown
"It drained all inspiration from my soul." was a quote from Sara many creatives can absolutely agree with!
Despite the stifling atmosphere of lockdown, Sara took inspiration from the immediate world around her and adapted, rising to the challenge, even if it wasn't exactly what she had wanted or planned for. This period gave her time to hone her skills and explore alternative methods of capture.

'My dream is to live in Bristol with a Labrador, lots of plants and be a photographer' -Sara G, 2021.
Goals & Plans
Sara wishes to:

Permanently move to Bristol after graduation.
To gather assistant work.
Make some art for some lovely musicians!
To expand her fashion and portraiture portfolio.
Work with brands doing editorials and magazine work. Dream collaborations including Vivienne Westwood, Doc Martens, and her 5 favourite bands shown at the bottom of this post.
Positively looking ahead into the future is key and necessary at this time - the idea of shooting at Festivals such as Reading & Leeds and working on big projects such as EPs and album covers is driving her through these creatively restraint times. We're all just waiting for the world to open back up!
What are your top 5 musicians:
McFly, Deaf Havana, The 1975, Queen & Neck Deep.
Thank you for reading! We are aiming to upload a Blog Post once a month, introducing you to new and fantastic creatives! So stay tuned! We hope you have an amazing week and an even better day.
Lots of Love,
Shooga Bloom xx
